RADON TESTING

APEX is certified by the NRPP (National Radon Proficiency Program) in Residential Radon Measurement.  Radon is a radioactive gas that is undetected by the human senses.  It is colorless, odorless and tasteless.  Radon comes from the natural decay of uranium, and is found in almost all soils and rocks.

Radon typically moves up through the ground to the air above and into homes.  There are multiple pathways through which radon can enter the living space of a home.  These pathways include cracks and openings in concrete floors and through crawlspaces.

If trapped inside a home, radon can build up to unsafe levels.  Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the United States.  The EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) strongly recommends that you test your home for radon, and is a reason why radon testing has become very popular with home buyers.

Testing is the only way to know if you and your family are at risk from radon.  The system APEX uses for testing is with E-Perms, which are EIC's (Electret Ionization Chambers).  Testing is conducted by placing our highly accurate equipment in an area of the home over a 48-96 hour time frame.  Once the test is completed, the testing equipment is retrieved, then analyzed at our measurement testing lab for the results.  A report is then generated for our customers that very same day.

If elevated radon levels are found, there are affordable mitigation systems that can be installed to minimize exposure to radon.
